The theme of the day was “Valuing Teacher’s Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the occasion was organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB), in collaboration with PLANE.
Agabi said since the inception of the PLANE program in Kaduna, they were able to train the teachers from primary one to four.
She said their intervention LGAs were: Kaduna North, South, Jaba, Sanga, Soba, and Sabon Gari.

Agabi equally said PLANE had trained teachers on the production of low-cost teaching materials for primary one.
He said that they were able to train 1,068 teachers on the innovative learning aids so as to make learning more interactive.
She added that PLANE also trained all the Head Teachers across all the six LGAs they were intervening to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
The team lead equally said they supported schools in conducting self assessments.
She explained that the school self assessments aimed at the self assessment of head teachers to look at the gaps within their schools.
They will also work with the ‘School-Based Management Committees (SBMC)’ to bridge the gaps through the school development plans.
She said it also helped the teachers on improving leadership skills and issues of delegation.
Speaking further, she said, PLANE had distributed teaching and learning materials to no fewer than 440,000 learners from primary one to four across their intervention LGAs.

She emphasized,” If a teacher does not have a guide or lesson plans, and the pupils also don’t have reading, writing and other learning materials, learning will not take place.”
Agabi said PLANE also supports SUBEB on aspects of SBMC and the school support officers.
According to her, this is a holistic approach towards ensuring that all the key stakeholders are brought on board for effective learning.
Agabi said, “Teachers are very key to us, working with and building their capacity is more of our key mandate.
”At the long run, what we want is that every child in school is learning and he or she is doing as expected before transitioning from one class to another.
”When a child is learning in school, the willingness to go to school the next day is guaranteed.
