LEPAS L8

LEPAS, Chery Group‘s premium global new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, has unveiled the LEPAS L8, a five-seat sports utility vehicle (SUV) aimed at buyers seeking a blend of luxury, practicality and electrified mobility.

Positioned as the brand’s flagship ‘Elegant and Spacious Premium SUV’, the L8 is designed to cater to professionals and families by combining premium styling, spacious accommodation, advanced technology and multiple powertrain options.

The SUV adopts LEPAS’ leopard aesthetic design philosophy, featuring flowing body lines, slim lighting elements, and a choice of five exterior colours, including Norway Forest Green, Provence Purple, and Himalaya White.

Inside, the cabin is built around a wraparound cockpit with a 2,800mm wheelbase that provides generous passenger space.

The vehicle also offers 47 storage compartments, a 507-litre luggage compartment, reclining rear seats, foldable rear tray tables, active noise cancellation, air purification and an intelligent fragrance system to enhance passenger comfort.

Built on the Intelligent LEX Platform, the LEPAS L8 features chassis tuning focused on ride comfort and stability.

The SUV is equipped with multilayer acoustic glass, UV-resistant, thermally insulating windows, and an air quality monitoring system designed to create a quieter and more comfortable cabin environment.

The model will be available with multiple powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version powered by a 1.5-litre TGDI hybrid engine.

According to the company, the PHEV offers an all-electric mode for daily commuting, supports fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent in about 20 minutes, delivers a driving range of more than 1,300 kilometres and records fuel consumption of as low as 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres in charge-sustaining mode.

The LEPAS L8 also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, supplying up to 2.2kW of in-cabin power and 6.6kW of external power for activities such as camping and outdoor recreation.

On the safety and technology front, the SUV is equipped with Level 2 driver-assistance features, a panoramic camera system, and a valet parking function designed to simplify parking in confined urban spaces.

The vehicle also features a cage-type body constructed with a high proportion of high-strength steel, multiple airbags and battery protection systems. LEPAS said the SUV is engineered to safety standards comparable to European five-star benchmarks and offers a 600mm water-wading capability for flooded roads and difficult driving conditions.

With the L8, LEPAS said it aims to strengthen its position in the growing global NEV market by offering a premium SUV that combines electrified performance, intelligent technology and everyday practicality for both family and business use.
