Volkswagen to invest $24b in zero-emission vehicles



Volkswagen has said it will invest $24billion in zero-emission vehicles by 2030, to create mass market for electric vehicles.The group, which is currently the world’s largest automaker by sales, disclosed that it would introduce 80 new electric cars across its brands by 2025.
The company, which had targeted investing $12 billion by 2025 on a move to electric vehicles, had set a goal of offering 30 new electric cars as well as offering an electric version of each of its 300 group models by 2030.
“A company like Volkswagen must lead, not follow. We are setting the scene for the final breakthrough for e-mobility,” the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Matthias Mueller, said.VW is expecting to compete with Tesla’s least expensive car with its new I.D. model.
