The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Professor Gloria Elemo, has commended the workers and the management team for significant achievements by the institution in 2018.

“Today, anywhere we go, our works, your works are speaking for us. We stand tall among the multitude of research institutes in Nigeria. This is by your collective efforts the government appreciates all of you for these landmark achievements,” she said.

By the management assessment, corroborated by many national and international organisations, she added, the institute did well in 2018, but asked the workers to do more in 2019.

Following the achievements, the institute, on the 9th of August last year, got its ISO certification for the accreditation of its central laboratory services, which was received by the minister of science and technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.

Accordingly, some of the employees were honored for an outstanding performance towards the organisation. The award was given to employees who made significant contributions to the betterment of the organisation.

Thanking the entire management for the efforts in the achievements of the organisation, she also encouraged and advised that every scientist should work harder for better results.

She warned against all forms of indiscipline in the work environment, stating that despite the achievements, indiscipline had remained a big challenge.

“Every act of indiscipline must be reported, else the head of that department will be held responsible,” Elemo warned.
