Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Peter Okebukola, has said that recognising and motivating diligent staff members greatly enhances the growth of such institutions.

Speaking at the maiden edition of “LASU Excellence Award,” Okebukola who is also the Chairman, LASU Quality Assurance Committee, added that through the quality assurance scheme the institution’s workforce has demonstrated greater commitment to duty.

He stated that strict implementation and compliance to the quality assurance programme of the institution by all units would guarantee international best practices.

He said, “It is a good act to recognise and reward members of staff who have performed excellently. I give kudos to LASU for this award, because it will encourage those who have worked hard, and spur others to sit up and be committed to their duties. While presenting certificates and prizes to members of staff who successfully completed modules one to six with distinction during the training, he charged those who backed out during the session to key into the 2017 programme so as to benefit from the scheme for the good of their university and the society.

The quality assurance implementation committee was established to steer the university in implementing its agenda, of making LASU a world-class university.”

Vice-chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, said the institution has the potential to be among the best varsities on the continent and beyond.
