The Founder of Lutful-lahi International, Sheikh AbdulMalik Robiu Adebayo, has urged Nigerians to pray for a peaceful conduct of the forthcoming 2019 elections.

He called on all Muslim faithful to emulate Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s life of total obedience, love, justice, and self-sacrifice, which are the hallmarks of Islam.

“We must all imbibe these virtues in order to move Nigeria forward to the next level,” he stated.

Adebayo, who spoke at the group’s yearly Maolud Nabiyy celebration in Lagos, said the celebration should be seen as a period for sober reflection on the life of prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“It is the best time for Muslims to reflect on the life of the holy prophet and imbibe his teachings. Anybody who follows the teaching of the prophet must not involve in violence, terrorism, bigotry and anything that is detrimental to peaceful co-existence,” he said.

According to him, the celebration is not meant for raising money, although, he noted that anybody who feels like doing an act of charity can do by spending money, giving out gift and putting smile on people’s face as enjoined by the holy prophet (SAW).

He adviced Nigerians to treat everybody around them with love so that the society will be a better place for all.

The cleric implored political leaders and the aspiring public office holders to be lawful and eschew hate speeches.

He expressed support for election debate where political aspirant can discourse their manifesto when elected.

“The manifestos of the party must reflect, how much the candidate will impact the lives of citizen. This will enable Nigerians have a close glimpse on the candidate and it will help when deciding who to vote for. If we are to vote any credible candidate such political aspirant must be able to show what he has done for the society,” he said.

Sheikh Adebayo urged Nigerians to abstain from money laundering, stealing of government money, Internet fraud, and other illegal means of acquiring wealth.

“Anybody that follows the teaching of the prophet (SAW) must refrain from amassing wealth that does not belong to them. According to the Quran, stealing is a grievous sin, if you steal your hand will be cut. If you feel that you are smart and escape in this world, severe punishment awaits you in the hereafter,” he said.

The Secretary General, Lutful-lahi International, Alhaji Muslimdeen Olabode Salam, highlighted numerous benefits that would be achieved celebrating the prophet’s birthday.

“During the programme, the life history of the prophet is reviewed. It showcases the spiritual accomplishment of the prophet, and provides opportunity to learn about soul touching life of the prophet from the spiritual leader of the organization and opportunity to intensify on soul touching prayer for the society and Muslim ummah,” he said.
