Gombe urges citizens to use mosquito nets


The Gombe state commissioner ministry of health, Dr. Kenedi Ishaya, has urged the beneficiaries of the long lasting insecticidal nets in the state to make judicious use of the mosquito nets for the purpose meant for in order to prevent malaria.

Ishaya said the meeting will enable the committee, assess the achievements recorded as well as to know challenges faced during the distribution exercise, with a view to proper solutions where necessary.

Ishaya stated that already they have deliberated on areas that need to be corrected expressing hope that, those who are yet to get the nets should exercise patience as necessary steps have been taken to address the problem.


The commissioner appreciated the efforts of members of the committee for their support and cooperation towards the success of the programme in the state.

Earlier, senior manager Vector control, Hajiya Zainab Baba Mai Ali said they achievement ninety eight point one percent in the distribution process and commended stakeholders or their role in ensuring the success of the exercise

Hajiya Zainab appealed to traditional and religious leader to continue educating public on the importance of the nets.

In his remark the Senior District Head of Gombe, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar, represented by the district head of Malam Inna Kagarawal Muhammad Kwairanga, appreciate the efforts of the Catholic relief Services for putting machinery in place for the smooth distribution of mosquito nets in the State.

The Senior District Head of Gombe also Charged the donor agencies at all times to involved traditional and religious leaders in their programmes.
