In a bold step toward creating a cleaner, smarter and more connected Lagos, the state Ministry of Transportation has unveiled EcoMove Lagos 2025, a week-long campaign geared towards promoting sustainable and efficient transportation in the state.
The event which is powered by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation runs from April 24 to April 30, 2025 and is themed “EcoMove: Connecting Communities, Reducing Emission, The Role of Public Transportation in Achieving Sustainable Goals”.
The event began on Thursday, April 24 with a state-wide clean-up campaign in mechanic villages across the state, symbolising a fresh start toward an eco-conscious Lagos.
On Friday, medical outreaches were held at Berger, Ojuelegba and Oshodi Interchange Terminal, where the drivers, traders and commuters were not only educated about the importance of healthy living, some beneficiairies had their blood pressure measured and sugar level tested. After each test, they were further advised while some were given drugs.
One of the beneficiaries of the media outreach, Jonathan Offordile, thanked the stage government for the initiative as it has helped him to better understand the state of his health. “It is highly appreciated,” he stated.
He disclosed that the medical team observed that his blood pressure was high, stating that aside he was advised on what to do and not do, he was given drugs.
Another beneficiary, Toyin Areme, was also happy about the media outreach, asking that the state government should constantly hold such programmes for petty traders like her, who may not have the resources to patronise a health centre.
The weeklong activities continues on Saturday with awareness road show across strategic locations across the metropolis while on Monday, April 28, there will be an infrastructure tour of key transport projects.
There will be paper presentation and panelists discussion on April 29, with the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as special guest. The grand finale and awards presentation will have the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as the special guest on April 30, 2025.
