PETROCAMAS a demonstration of its corporate social responsibility to its host community, Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited has given out various rewards to the Igando community in Lagos State.

Speaking at the event to mark its first year anniversary last week, the Managing Director, Mr. Patrick Ilo, commended the community for its cooperation with the company.

He noted that the support of the community members helped the company to overcome the challenges it faced with competitors in the area. Ilo suggested that to end the fuel crisis prevailing in the country, the Federal Government should embrace deregulation.

Ilo said: “All over the world, the petroleum sector is not in the hands of the government. People are allowed to bring in the products. That is the only way we can end fuel scarcity biting the nation.

The government should monitor the operators and sanction any erring marketer to ensure that they do the right thing. Let the law of demand and supply take its course and people should be allowed to make their choice.”

He observed that his firm, in order to discharge its corporate social responsibility to the community, has constructed drainage, provided light, and water in the area; and also gave assurance that the beauty of the structure in Igando cannot be compared with what his company plans to do in Lekki, where plans are underway to provide solar-powered light in that area.

To further reward customers on the occasion of the first year anniversary, the company had a raffle draw in which Yusuf Amuda Shittu emerged the grand prize winner of a Kia Piccanto 2014 model car. The second runner won a motorcycle while the third went away with a refridgerator.

Other consolation prizes were given out to many other customers. The Administrative and Sales Manager of the firm, Eyo Oghogho, said the promo was organized as a means of giving back to the society.

While saying that Petrocam company has a mini-gas plant, where people can fill their cooking gas; and a lube, where they can fix and service their cars; and a mini-mart, where the community can purchase products, said that the company wants to allow people at the grassroots enjoy what the it has to offer. Oghogho advised consumers to always buy petroleum products from approved filling stations so as to avoid adulteration.
