Lagos State government has held its 24th Christmas Carols of Nine Lessons with the theme, “Unto us a child is born”.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the yearly event organised by the First family and the Ministry of Home Affairs, read the ninth lesson from John 1 verses 1 to 14. Also, at the event, there were reading of bible lessons by dignitaries, praise and worship.

The governor wished Lagos residents a merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance imploring them to emulate Jesus in His acts and deeds.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, said over the years the Christmas carol has become a veritable platform for the First family, no matter the religious affiliation of the occupant of the seat of power to appreciate the goodness of Almighty in the affairs of the state.

“There is no doubt that this event has become epochal in the religious calendar of the state. Mr. Governor has demonstrated his practical love for all religions by his non-discriminatory deployment of resources to all religions in the state.

“This explains the state of religious harmony, and tolerance existing among all religious groups in the state. We would all agree that Governor Sanwo-Olu has delivered on his mandate on all sectors of the state economy. The people are happy, Lagosians are pleased with your footprints and laudable achievements, which are visible in health care, education, social safety and all other critical sectors of the state economy.

“The greater Lagos is indeed rising to the admiration of all Lagosians. Your administration is committed to the task of building a state that we would all be proud of,” Layode stated.
