The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA ) has rated the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) highly for its level of compliance with the Executive Order on mandatory health insurance scheme enrollment in Lagos State.

The commendation was given by the Enforcement Team of the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme during a visit to the Agency, which is one of the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) scheduled for the compliance exercise today.

Speaking during the visit, the Team Lead, Mr Akinlolu Akinpelumi, applauded HEFAMAA for its proactive efforts in ensuring that both staff and clients understand the importance of the health insurance scheme and are enrolled.

According to him: “From what I have seen based on our assessment, I can confidently say that HEFAMAA has performed very well in terms of compliance with the Executive Order of Mr Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, aimed at ensuring that all residents of the State are captured under the scheme. The Agency scored nothing less than one hundred percent. Hopefully, before our next visit, the performance will be even better.”

In her response, the Executive Secretary, HEFAMAA, Dr. Victoria Egunjobi, expressed satisfaction with the rating and assured LASHMA that the Agency would sustain and improve on its performance by ensuring full enrollment of its staff and clients.

She stated: “As a medical professional, I understand the value of a scheme like the Lagos State Social Health Insurance Scheme. Its importance cannot be overstated. As a key player in the health sector, we are committed to continuous enlightenment to ensure that people understand why it is mandatory to key into the scheme.”
