How Choroids Limited is changing plant-based selfcare in Nigeria with eSelfcare Mobile

Choroids Limited is a startup registered in Nigeria in 2026 and the developer of eSelfcare Mobile. eSelfcare Mobile is an app which provides users with scientifically valid information on how to safely care for themselves, families, or friends using plants. It is an app for de-risked plant-based wellness and self-care information. eSelfcare’s service is provided for healthcare informational and educational purposes. The app is not a substitute for professional healthcare services. eSelfcare has been released on the Google Play Store and is under review by Apple for release on the App Store at the time of writing this article.

When logged in, users of eSelfcare Mobile simply type their self-care need, such as ulcers, fibroids, high blood pressure, cancer, etc. The app returns self-care options, and the user selects an option and proceeds with payment. Upon payment, the user is presented with the name of a scientifically validated plant to successfully and safely care for the self-care need. Other information includes the possible side effects and risks of using the plant and the plant’s interaction with synthetic medicines.

Benefits of eSelfcare Mobile to Users

eSelfcare Mobile is a user’s personal wellness and self-care information resource. It helps users achieve improved health through de-risked self-care with plants, thereby improving their quality of life and potential longevity.

Nigerians sometimes postpone seeking healthcare services due to multiple factors, including busy schedules, high costs, failures, and others. While plant-based medicines can be a low-cost option which can also deliver improvement in the user’s health if properly sourced, the reality on the ground is not a testament to improved wellness of Nigerians driven by the use of medicinal plants. Many Nigerians wish to use plants to care for themselves or associates but are held back by multiple factors, including:

  • High failures in the use of medicinal plants.
  • High costs of sourcing quality plant-based therapy.
  • Exaggerated claims by some medicinal plant practitioners.
  • Popular misinformation is that plant-based medicines are safer, free of side effects, and better than synthetic medicines.
  • High risks of using medicinal plants. Such risks include possible organ toxicity and secondary infection.
  • Other factors which cannot be described in this article due to space.

These factors were partly responsible for the development of eSelfcare Mobile by Choroids Limited. eSelfcare Mobile therefore provides users with services which help users mitigate the drawbacks associated with contemporary use of medicinal plants by Nigerians.

Founder’s Story and Vision

Choroids was founded in January 2026, though work on eSelfcare had commenced for nearly three years. eSelfcare, was conceived out of the necessity to share with users plant-based solutions which have worked for the founder of Choroids Limited.

After living with peptic ulcers for 25 years, Choroids’ founder realised that healing needed to come from plants. In 2013, Choroid’s founder had an endoscopy at a private facility in Abuja and the peptic ulcer was diagnosed as “healing” without Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori). In 2023, he had another endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other tests and procedures at a private facility in the Middle East. The procedures and tests revealed that he had reflux, peptic ulcer, gastritis, H. Pylori, two polyps in the colon, enlarged prostate relative to his age group, and a blood pressure of 140/100. His Upper GI Endoscopy result is provided in Appendix A. He suffered multiple symptoms and pains. He received quality care and medicines, including surgical removal of the two polyps from his colon. The histopathological examination returned non-carcinogenic. The triple combo to exterminate the H. Pylori failed.

He visited Nigeria and received another treatment from a private facility in Abuja – the H. Pylori extermination failed again! The pain and symptoms remained. As a trained engineer, he didn’t believe that there was no solution to his problem, but it became clear that he had to practice self-care. He sought out to help himself, but he couldn’t find a robust software application that could help him. There were multiple solutions on multiple platforms, but it was difficult to know which ones would deliver results, and he had become desperate to ease his pain and symptoms. Of course, he looked nowhere other than at plants.

After multiple trials and errors, he found healing in plants. Starting with the extermination of the H. Pylori. He took a plant consistently for 30 days and returned to the private facility in the Middle East for a repeat test – it was negative! He developed plant-based self-care strategies and successfully eased his pain and symptoms. He returned to the private facility in the Middle East and verified that he indeed healed through appropriate tests. For example, his new Total Prostate-Specific Antigen (TPSA) in April 2026 was 0.750.

His interest in medicinal plants was activated following his successful recovery from the self-care needs listed above. He took a 6-month training on “Medicinal Plants” from a university in the US. The training equipped him to be able to ask basic but helpful questions and to also be able to provide answers to the questions:

  • Q: Do plant-based medicines work?
    • Yes, if properly used.
  • Q: Are plant-based medicines better than synthetic medicines?
    • No one is better than the other. The recommended option(s) depend on the specific self-care need.
  • Q: Are plant-based medicines free of side effects and risks?
    • Side effects and toxicity of plant-based medicines can be mild, moderate, severe, or lethal. These can be mitigated by proper use of the plant.
  • Q: Are plant-based medicines cheaper than synthetic medicines?
    • This depends on many factors, including long-term safety costs due to handling and the source of the plant.
  • Q: Should I use plant-based medicines or should I use synthetic medicines for my self-care needs?
    • It depends on your self-care needs. Some self-care needs are better healed with plant-based medicines, while others are optimally healed with synthetic medicines.

The founder’s long-term vision is to contribute to efforts aimed at deepening the use of plant-based medicines to heal self-care needs in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond through software application creativity.
