To check high maternal and child mortality rate through improved access to antenatal care, a coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, (NGOs) under the Impact Project, is to partner with the Cross River State Government on maternal and child healthcare.

The bodies teaming up are Positive Care Development Foundation, Dreamboat and Dawn of Life. The State Coordinator of Impact Project, Mr. Patrick Onen, speaking during an advocacy project with the theme, Mother–to-child Transmission, disclosed that the consortium would work in four local government Areas; Akpabuyo, Odukpani, Ogoja and Yala in Cross River State and three local governments in Rivers State to improve access to antenatal care.

Dreamboat Boss, Dr. Edisua Merab, said the consortium is more concerned about family planning, HIV and family health, decrying the worrisome trend of many women dying during childbirth.
