The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and leaders of Edo Forum of Patriots (EFP), yesterday, tasked both Edo State and Federal government to provide conducive environment for quality healthcare delivery to the people.

State chairman of the NMA, Dr Emmanuel Osaigbovo, at a press briefing, said the issues militating against the health sector in the state call for a determined attention so that those accessing the facilities would not die before they eventually find help.
“Today, there is hardly any functional ward where people can recover from their infirmities.”

On its part, EFP called on the state government to invest in primary healthcare.
It stated this during a courtesy visit on the Managing Director of Central Hospital, Benin City, Dr Philip Ugbodaga.

Led by the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of EFP, Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, the association said: “Any responsible government must never be comfortable with a society that is akin to a sick bay. We believe that special attention should be given to primary healthcare service delivery.
