Healthcare organisation, PharmAccess Foundation, has partnered with the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA) 2025 to celebrate hospitals and individuals pushing for quality healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
The awards ceremony, held in Lagos, brought together government officials, medical experts, private health operators and development partners to spotlight outstanding work in the health sector.
The awards also marked 10 years of PharmAccess’ partnership with NHEA, using its SafeCare Quality Programme to recognise hospitals that have prioritised patient safety and operational standards, especially in underserved areas.
PharmAccess gave two major awards during the night.
The award for “Most Active Public Facility on the SafeCare Quality Platform” went to Orile Agege General Hospital. Others nominated in the category include Ikorodu General Hospital, Ibeju Lekki General Hospital and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital.
South Shore Women and Children’s Hospital clinched the “Facility with the Highest SafeCare Quality Score and Level” award. R-Jolad Hospital, Lifeline Children Hospital and Lakeshore Cancer Centre were also contenders in that group.
Speaking at the event, Project Director of NHEA, Dr Wale Alabi, said, “This year, we honour leaders and institutions shaping real outcomes, expanding access, driving innovation, and transforming healthcare delivery in Nigeria. NHEA continues to be a platform that celebrates not just excellence, but also the progress and resilience of our healthcare system.”
Representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the recognition of top-performing institutions helps inspire better service delivery.
“Recognising excellence in healthcare is critical to driving progress in our health system. The achievements celebrated tonight… reflect the resilience and commitment of Nigeria’s healthcare professionals,” he said.
Country Director of PharmAccess, Njide Ndili, explained the goal of their partnership with NHEA.
“We are proud of our continued partnership with NHEA in spotlighting healthcare providers who prioritise quality… Our mission remains clear, to drive measurable quality improvements that translate into better health outcomes for all Nigerians,” she said.
