Red cross moves to promote good health, save lives

The Nigerian Red cross Society (NRCS), Awka South division has announced plans to promote good health and save lives in Anambra State.

It is also working through strategic plans to reinvigorate the branch in the state
Speaking to The Guardian in Awka, the division branch Chairman, Emmanuel Ezeobi, hinted that some of his plans to include restructuring the division for more effectiveness, setting up Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit to improve communication and embarking on awareness creation programmes within the state capital and environs.

Ezeobi, who was the former detachment Commandant in the state, added that the association runs open door policy for more volunteers, consultants and well meaning Nigerians who will give their time and resources in partnering with the NRCS to promote good health and save lives among the Anambra community.
“Our plans are focused on straightening governance, enhancing volunteer base and internal control, as well as upgrading to digital platforms .

“Increasing youth involvement, improving working condition ,partnership with other social organisations and community engagements,” he said.
He lamented that their major challenge is urgent movement to the proposed new office at the Awka South local government Area complex to make working environment more conducive, reminding that their main objectives is offering humanitarian services to the public.

Ezeobi assured that the Division will play critical role towards making the organisation more popular and acceptable, stressing that Awka south office is the main division within the state capital territory.

He also announced that plans for investiture of the current mayor of Awka south, Prince Chinedu Okafor as their ‘Patron’ in accordance with the NRCS rule, while Mr Chukwuma Emuwa, a Volunteer consultant would receive an award for ‘Excellent service to Humanity’.
