Jaguar F-Pace, E-Pace get five-star safety rating

The Jaguar F-PACE performance Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) has added a five-star European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) rating to its 2017 world car of the year title.

The performance SUV, which also won 2017 World Car Design of the Year at the 2017 World Car awards, scored 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 85 per cent for child occupant protection and 80 per cent for pedestrian protection.

Combining award winning design, innovative engineering and now a five-star safety rating marks the F-PACE out as the ultimate family car. This result also confirms the current PACE family’s safety status following the recent award of five stars to the all-new E-PACE compact SUV.

The F-PACE has become the fastest-selling Jaguar ever, with the 100,000th vehicle recently rolling off the production line at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull manufacturing facility. The performance SUV has received more than 70 global awards, including the 2017 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year titles.

The F-PACE features an aluminium intensive architecture with six airbags to create a super-strong occupant safety cell allied with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. The combination of active and passive safety measures helped deliver an overall Euro NCAP rating of 85 per cent.
Alongside the F-PACE, the new Jaguar E-PACE also achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating, confirming the hotly anticipated vehicle as among the safest on the market.

This first compact SUV from Jaguar keeps everyone safe with high scores of 86 per cent for adult occupant protection, 87 per cent for child occupant protection and 77 per cent for pedestrian protection.

The E-PACE scored maximum points in the side barrier, as well as in the side and the frontal offset tests for child occupants.

In the pedestrian tests, E-PACE scored highly, particularly for the protection of a pedestrian’s head in the event of a collision.

Executive Director, Product Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover, Nick Rogers, said the Jaguar F-PACE combines award winning design and engineering with exceptional safety. The lightweight aluminium intensive body of the 2017 world car of the year provides excellent protection alongside the dynamic performance customers expect from a Jaguar. Improvements to active safety technologies, such as Forward Traffic Detection and Driver Condition Monitoring, ensured F-PACE achieved the five-star Euro NCAP score.

Rogers said: “Safety is one of our core customer principles and so we’re delighted the Jaguar E-PACE has also been recognised by Euro NCAP for its five-star safety credentials. The E-PACE will bring new customers to the Jaguar brand, particularly young families, so safety is an absolute priority and clearly, we’ve delivered here. Combined with outstanding design and driving dynamics, the E-PACE is every bit a modern Jaguar”
