The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has again adjourned the case between a postgraduate student, Kayode Bello and the University of Ibadan (UI), and nine others to May 26, 2025.
Bello sued the University in a suit marked FHC/IBCS/119/2024, over the closure of the students’ portal, which hindered him from graduating. When the matter earlier came up on April 8, 2025, the court did not sit.
The trial judge, Evelyn Maha, previously ordered the defendants to file all their processes at once to save the court’s time.
Subsequently, the defendants in compliance with the order, filed a counter affidavit, while the claimant filed a further affidavit to counter some of the depositions in the counter affidavit.
Bello is asking the court to compel the University of Ibadan and nine other defendants to allow him access to his student portal for the purpose of payment of school fees, registration and graduation at the University.
The other nine defendants are the Vice Chancellor of the institution, the Registrar, the Provost of the Post Graduate College, the Head of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit, Post Graduate College, Mr Biodun Ajayi, Head of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit, Head of the Department of Communication and Language Arts, and another lecturer at the department.
The claimant is also praying the court to grant an order, mandating the defendants to include his name in the University of Ibadan’s convocation list.
The University had locked the claimant’s student portal twice without any stated reason until he filed a case at the court challenging the closure.
