Nice one Chambers. “Everything rises and falls with Leadership”. John Maxwell. Its is ridiculous for anyone to blame colonialism for where Africa is – Gosh! It happened over half a century ago. 50 years is enough to transform a nation as highlighted with Israel and Singapore or quite enough to destroy it as is obvious with the examples you mentioned from Africa. It is also interesting to note that Park Chung Hee, Deng Xiaoping and Lee Kuan Yew were not exactly models of democratically elected leaders and symbols of free speech. However, they achieved such great feats even far better than many so called free states. While I do not advocate dictatorship, one party state and suppression of rights, it is obvious that Good leadership can be be authoritarian as well as democratic. The type of government doesn’t make a good leader just as the cowl does not make the monk. On a lighter note, the editor might want to spell the name of Singapore’s founding father properly. The old man might rumble in his grave if his name cannot be spelled properly after all he did for his country, taking them from 3rd world country to 1st. Great and insightful article in all. I hope it gets the right attention. Keep Hope Alive! #LeeKuanYew #LeadAfrica #KeepHopeAlive
