DAILY POST clinches ‘custodian of the Nigerian Dream’ award
Another feather has been added to DAILY POST’s cap, as it received the ‘Custodian of the Nigerian Dream’ award from Nigeria Rebirth National Project group for the medium’s investigative style of reporting, objectivity and balanced reportage. National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Isaac Balami, who led the management team of Nigeria Rebirth National Project to the Abuja office of DAILY POST for the award presentation, noted that the newspaper is indeed “the most read online newspaper.”
Balami, who is also the President, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), said the news platform, through its style of reportage, has proven to be a true indigenous company that believes in the Nigerian vision.
According to him, “We are here because of the role DAILY POST has played in the Nigeria Rebirth project. You are the first media house that keyed into this vision. The Nigeria Rebirth Project is happy to be associated with DAILY POST because you the way and manner you write your stories; inculcating transparency and investigation; have already endeared you to us and we are happy to be associated with you.
“In this world today, you can’t achieve anything without the media. We know how powerful you are and that is why we have come to your office; we want to assure you of our full commitment and, of course, we are partners now. If you see us doing what is wrong, you can advise us professionally”.
In his response, DAILY POST’s Editor, Mr. Ali Adoyi, who received the award on behalf of the organisation, stated that it was a great honour for the organisation to host the Nigeria Rebirth team in what he termed special award presentation.
He noted, “This award and the visit clearly show that the Nigeria Rebirth team appreciates the invaluable role of the media in the national project.
We will take this award and your message to the publisher, and by His grace, we won’t relent in our support towards this project”.
He also commended the non-governmental organization for recognising the efforts of DAILY POST towards nation building. The NGO’s boss, Balami, also used the occasion to explain what the Nigeria Rebirth National Programme is out to achieve, stating that his organisation is determined to reposition the negative mind-set of the world about Nigeria.
According to him, “Nigeria Rebirth Project is an independent and registered NGO under the government with its team made up of young professionals drawn from all sectors of the economy and we are determined to make the project the most accountable and transparent NGO in the history of the world.
“We came up with this vision called the Nigerian Rebirth Project because it’s time to change the mindset of the world about Nigeria. Despite being blessed with half of the mineral resources in the world, Nigeria is seen as one of the most corrupt nations and that is what we want to change.”
