Okhaifoh emerges Kids FM Programmes manager

Yvonne Okhaifoh

Yvonne Okhaifoh has been as appointed the new Programme Manager of Kids FM Lagos. Her elevation to Programme Manager signals Kids FM’s commitment to intentional, value-driven children’s content.

For Yvonne, children’s radio is not about talking down to young minds but talking with them. She believes in nurturing confidence, curiosity, and emotional intelligence early— an approach that aligns seamlessly with the station’s mission.

A broadcast journalist, voice actor, and thespian, Yvonne’s journey into media has been shaped by words and voice.

She is a graduate of English and Literature from the University of Benin, a background that continues to influence her storytelling, on-air delivery, and programme design. Her professional training cuts across borders: she is an alumna of the Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) and a writing fellow with African Liberty, a subsidiary of Students for Liberty-experiences that refined her global outlook and sharpened her advocacy-driven communication style.

She is fondly known as Principal Vonne,a role that feels less like a title and more like a natural extension of who she is. Calm yet firm, warm yet exacting, Yvonne brings to children’s radio a rare mix of structure, creativity, and empathy.

Yvonne is already a familiar and trusted voice at Kids FM 101.7.

She currently anchors the weekday 3pm-6pm show, Homebound, guiding young listeners through thoughtful conversations, music, and reflections as they wind down from the school day. On Saturdays, she hosts Think Tank, a programme that encourages children to ask questions, think critically, and engage the world beyond the obvious.

She described herself, Yvonne chooses three words: tough, intelligent, and empathetic. They are not just descriptors; they are evident in how she works and leads. Tough enough to hold standards, intelligent enough to innovate, and empathetic enough to understand both her audience and her team.

Away from the studio, her answers reveal a thoughtful, grounded woman. If she weren’t in radio, she would be a professor, a fitting alternative for someone who enjoys shaping minds. She has no celebrity crush, but if she could share dinner with one person.

It would be Viola Davis-a woman known for depth, resilience, and truth in storytelling. The song that best captures her spirit is “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child, while her greatest fear is crawling things-except babies, she adds with a smile.

Yvonne loves a movie with a strong plot and believes the ultimate TV show is life itself-unpredictable, layered, and always teaching. She also has a hidden talent many may not expect: she can dance. And when it comes to music, her taste is expansive; choosing just one song she can listen to on repeat feels impossible.

As Kids FM ushers in a new programming era under her leadership, one thing is clear: Principal Vonne is not just managing content— she is shaping culture for the next generation.
Through sound, story, and structure, Yvonne Okhaifoh is helping young listeners find their voices, one broadcast at a time.

Central to Yvonne Okhaifoh’s vision as Programme Manager is a clear promise: to reposition Kids FM as a wholesome, trusted space for both children and parents.

Okhaifoh is committed to rolling out carefully curated programmes that blend education, information, and entertainment, ensuring that every segment delivers value while still being fun and engaging.

She believes children’s radio should be a total package-one that supports learning beyond the classroom, reinforces positive values at home, and keeps young listeners creatively stimulated. Her programming philosophy recognises parents as key stakeholders, with content designed to spark healthy conversations at home and help families navigate childhood development together.

Under her leadership, listeners can expect shows that nurture curiosity, promote critical thinking, encourage good character, and celebrate creativity, while still retaining the playful energy children love. From storytelling and music to discussions that build confidence and emotional intelligence, Yvonne’s goal is to make Kids FM a station parents can trust and children can grow with.

With this renewed focus, Kids FM is set to become more than a radio station-it will be a companion in raising well-rounded children, guided by Okhaifoh’s steady hand, thoughtful vision, and deep understanding of the power of media in shaping young minds.
