FIRST bridge, before Iyana Ipaja, from Oshodi, along Oshodi-Sango expressway, is noted for mass movement of people crossing the ever-busy highway in the morning and in the evening because of the high population density of the area, which includes Egbeda, Shasha, Akowonjo, Dopemu among others.

The median that divides the road and the fast moving vehicles on the highway are some of the difficulties that pedenstrians contend with when they attempt to cross the road to either sides.

It is always a pitiable sight to see mothers with their children crossing the road in the mornings when they are taking their wards to school and in the evenings when they are coming back.

Government, in an attempt to make the crossing of the road easy awarded a contract for the construction of a pedestrian bridge in the area.

The contractor handling the project had gone far in the execution of the project but somewhere along the line, the construction of the pedenstrian bridge was abandoned.

Similar fate (abandonment) is also being suffered by same project in Cement area which is the next bus stop from the first bridge, moving towards Oshodi.

A lot of people cross the road to either side in this bus stop as well.

Mangoro bus stop too is another area that needs a pedestrian bridge. A lot of accidents have been recorded in that place caused mainly by pedestrians crossing the express road.
A civil servant who passes the area often, Mrs. Ajoke Dawodu said since prevention is always better than cure, the government should do something about these areas.

“Oshodi-Sango express road is a very busy road at all times and to save people from endandering their lives in attempting to cross the road, government should complete the projects.
