Trinity University holds third convocation

Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos is set to hold its third convocation ceremony where 122 graduates will bag degrees in various fields. 28 graduates of the institution are in the first class category, while 65 students would graduate in the second class (upper division), 25 second class (lower division) and three students in the third class division.
Speaking at a media briefing, Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Kolawole, said this year’s event is unique because the university is graduating its first set of Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science students.
Kolawole disclosed that Farouq Animashaun from the Department of Computer Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.95 emerged as the overall best student.
“The Chief Executive Officer of Coscharis Group of Companies, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, will on Wednesday, deliver the convocation lecture titled, ‘Success in not a Degree.’ The lecture will be delivered under the chairmanship of a member of the Governing Council, Trinity University, Dr. Olufemi Oyinsan,” he said.
The convocation will be preceded by a matriculation of 554 students on Thursday.
According to him, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adenike Oladiji will deliver the matriculation lecture titled, ‘The Central Place of University Education in Personal and National Development.’
Other activities for the weeklong convocation ceremonies include alumni visit to the halls of residence, departments, a meeting with management and select members of the Governing Council.
Friday’s ceremony will be presided over by the Chancellor, Chief Samuel Adedoyin, and will also see the conferment of honorary doctorate degree of Business Administration and Management on President, Architect Registration Council of Nigeria, Dipo Ajayi.
Kolawole said: “Trinity University has continued to expand its operations, programmes and facilities to ensure that it is in a strong position to meet the ever-increasing demand of our clients. It has recently added skills acquisition in digital literacy and entrepreneur, fashion design, graphic design, photography and videography, hospitality and mixology, addiction science and courier, logistics management to its programmes to give students the opportunity to become entrepreneurs and be job-ready when they graduate.”
