U.S. Consulate, Goethe Institute, others train Nigerians on digital library service
The United States Consulate General in Lagos in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, University of Abuja and Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre, (WTEC) has trained librarians from the 36 states of the country.
The training, the organisers said, would enhance professionalism among Nigerian librarians.
The workshop, which was held in Lagos, was organised to make them globally relevant, and equip them up with necessary digital skills to provide public library services that use digital technology for the benefit of local communities.
The training covered broad areas of digital literacy, knowledge management, innovative service delivery and expanded role of libraries and librarians in the 21st century.
Public Affairs Officer, United States Consulate General, Darcy Zotter, charged the participants to take advantage of the training to get a good grasp of the key competencies of the profession and make a big difference in their chosen careers.
“We are collaborating with our partners to equip young Nigerian librarians with renewed approach to service delivery in the management of library and information centers.”
