World biggest poster to drive new Ultimate promo
Record was last week shattered when the biggest poster ever produced around the world was unveiled in Enugu last week. The world biggest poster, measuring 5367 square metres, was unveiled; it beats the existing record holder of 4793.65 square metres, which was displayed on June 27, 2015, in Kochi, India, is meant to drive the new promo by Nigerian Breweries, dubbed Ultimate Promo.
On hand to measure the size of the poster was a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and the Surveyor-General of Enugu State, Mr. Nath Agu, with Barrister Onyekwuluje Ogochukwu, affirming the measurement.
In the Gulder promo, Nigeria Breweries will be giving out 15 Hyundai Elantra cars in the grand prize and other consolation prizes. There are two routes to a grand prize of a Hyundai Elantra car. The first route is through Ultimate Chase, which would be held in eight cities – Enugu, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin, Lagos, Owerri, Calabar and Onitsha. While that of Enugu had been held, the other cities would be held between October and November. To participate through this option requires collecting six ultimate chase crown corks and report to any of the Ultimate Chase venues on or before 7am for an opportunity to partake in a chase contest.
The second route to winning a Hyundai Elantra car is buying a bottle of Gulder and checking under the crown cork for a unique raffle code which should be sent with the name, age and state of residence to 20388 to qualify for the raffle draw. According to the organisers, there will be a raffle draw every two weeks where lucky consumers will win any of the brand new Hyundai Elantra cars and other prizes.
Enugu State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barrister Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, applauded Nigerian Breweries for choosing Enugu to launch the promo and the biggest poster in the world. According to him, the event added to the profile of the state as a destination for business and investment.
Ogbu-Nwobodo also commended Nigerian Breweries for promoting responsible drinking and hoped that more activities along that line would be evident in his state.
Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc., Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, who described the occasion as yet another epochal one by his company, said Enugu and the South East Region have consistently played host to big events of his company besides being a solid base to its operations and veritable home to its brands since the commissioning of the company second brewery in Aba in 1957.
While commenting on the Gulder brand, he said that since its unique launch in 1970, as Nigeria’s first lager brand packaged in a brown bottle, Gulder has moved from strength and attained many firsts along the path, remaining the most innovative beer bottle.
Vervelde further said, “In 2004, Gulder masterminded the first wholly local reality show produced in Nigeria, Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS), which has run for 11 consecutives seasons. In 2008, Enugu State played host to the GUS, which has also created a platform to showcase Nigeria’s hidden tourist locations in addition to bringing out the best in our youths through an adventurous journey that tests their mental mettle, physical strength and social adaptability.
“Today, we are pleased to expand the frontiers with the biggest consumer promotion in the history of Gulder with over four million prizes to be won. The ultimate promotion by the ultimate beer deserves to be announced in the ultimate way. I am thus happy to inform that the details of Gulder Ultimate Chase will be announced via the unveiling of the World’s biggest promotion poster. With this poster, Gulder breaks the record for the world’s largest poster. This feat is an attestation to the ultimate beer and the ultimate man who stands up to be counted with his beer.”
Earlier, the Sales Director of NB Plc, Mr. Hubert Eze, said many had asked why they brought the unveiling of the promo and biggest poster to Enugu. He said that it was because the brand has a lot in common with Enugu besides being home at Enugu. “So, when we want to break history; we break it at home and ensure that every corner of the earth salute the feat. So we are not in doubt as to the reason we are here.”
After unveiling the poster, the representative of the governor led other dignitaries at the event, including the CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc., his wife, Mrs. Clementina and Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc., Mr. Kufre Ekanem, to sign on the poster.
