Zorbing Naija redefining fun with walking on water

Launched on July 20, 2024, Zorbing Naija set out to offer Lagosians something new, an adventure that isn’t another party or brunch. Founded by Rehanat Amusu, a young entrepreneur with a passion for creating unforgettable experiences, the brand has since carved out a niche as the go-to spot for thrill-seekers and fun-loving communities looking to try something refreshingly different.

That’s how Zorbing Naija was born; a first-of-its-kind water zorbing experience that quietly slipped into the Lagos scene and, weekend after weekend, has grown into a small but mighty movement of fun, laughter, and lightness.

But the story didn’t start in Lagos. “I first tried zorbing in Abuja. I enjoyed it a little too much and the idea dropped in my heart right there and then,” Amusu stated.

With all the aquatic splendour of Lagos; the waterfronts, beach resorts, and open-air fun spots, it felt like a perfect fit, she added.

“A year passed and then another year went by. But I kept hoping someone else would invest and bring these balls into Lagos. But when it didn’t happen after two years, I realized I had to ditch my cold feet and take the bull by the horn,” she disclosed.

She said that it didn’t happen overnight and the zorb balls sat in her online cart for two months before she finally placed the order.

When they arrived in Lagos, they stayed in her house for two more months, untouched; until her friends stepped in with the push she needed. “They encouraged me to open them, some of them helped me look for locations, talked to people in their circles and even drove me around Lagos for site recess. That support is what made it real, and I am super grateful for their support” In June 2024, they tested the ball for the first time, with Amusu being the first person to zorb on Lagos Waterways. And by July, Zorbing Naija was open for bookings, officially becoming the first and only water zorbing activity in Lagos till date.

As the brand celebrates one year, there’s more to look forward to. Plans are in motion for group packages, larger-scale events, and even expanding into new locations within Nigeria. “This is just the beginning. We want to make Zorbing a core part of the Lagos experience.” This weekend, to mark its anniversary, Zorbing Naija is offering limited-time specials and inviting everyone, first timers and regulars alike, to come celebrate.

So, if you’ve been wondering what it feels like to walk on water, now’s your chance. “This city is intense. We all need places to exhale. Zorbing Naija became that for me, and now, for others too.”
