If there’s any day to do something nice, it’s today. And hey, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy – small acts count too! See 10 simple but fun ways to spread kindness that’ll make everyone (including you) feel fantastic.

 1. Pay for someone’s lunch

Imagine this: you’re at a restaurant, and the person behind you is already daydreaming about the taste of Jollof rice, only for them to find out it’s free! Treat someone to lunch, whether it’s a buddy, colleague, or even that stranger in line. You’ll get to feel like a hero, and they’ll get to enjoy a guilt-free meal. Win-win!

 2. Give the “nice outfit!” nod

People love compliments, and nothing feels better than a solid “You look sharp!” or “That outfit is fire!” Give a genuine compliment to someone, even if it’s as simple as a thumbs-up for that killer outfit. It’s free, it’s easy, and it might just make their whole day brighter.

 3. Donate, but make it drama-free

Got clothes that haven’t seen the light of day in ages? Shoes that missed your style glow-up? Find a charity or donate to someone who needs it. Plus, you’ll get more closet space, and they’ll get a fresh drip. Kindness, my people, is stylish! But, don’t do this with camera on standby- action! That is not kindness but a show-off!

 4. Be the “directions guy”

Someone lost? Be their Lagos GPS! Give clear directions (no “small left, big right” confusion here!) and watch the relief on their face. Extra points if you throw in a bit of local slang – a quick “Oya, just waka straight, sharp left, then go straight!” gets the vibe right.

 5. Help your Geng with fuel money

Look, we all know the fuel price surge in Nigeria. Today, transfer some small fuel money to a friend or family member who’s been grinding hard. Just type, “This one na fuel money – no yarn too much!” and watch as you make their day instantly brighter.

 6. Send a random appreciation text

“Hey! Just wanted to say thanks for being awesome.” Text your friend, sibling, or even that cousin who’s always showing up for you. Trust me, that simple message can turn someone’s whole day around. Plus, it costs nothing, and you get all the “aww, thank you!” replies. Best investment!

 7. Support your local vendor

That local mama put a fruit vendor down your street? Show them some love! Buy something small, flash a big smile, and maybe even shout, “Customer of the Year!” It’s a small gesture, but it could mean a lot to someone who works so hard every day.

8. Lend an ear – Yes, even if the gist is long

Sometimes, people don’t need advice; they just need someone to listen (and maybe to laugh or nod along). Let that friend talk about their day, their crush, or how their neighbour’s dog keeps barking. Just let them get it off their chest – it’s free therapy, and you get major friend points.

 9. Cheer someone up with a throwback meme

Got a friend who’s been having a tough week? Send them a throwback meme or one of those hilarious Nigerian skits. Add a quick “This one na for you – laugh small, abeg!” Laughter is medicine, so let them laugh the stress away for a bit.

10. Be extra nice to public workers (Even the bus conductor)

Public workers have seen it all, so surprise them with a little kindness. Greet the bus conductor or security guard with a big “Good morning, boss!” Throw a smile at them and mean it. It might be the first time someone showed them kindness all day.
