There is never really a quiet weekend in Lagos. Between food pop-ups, creative events, exhibitions, and festivals, there is usually something to do if you know where to look. As we head into the final months of the year, here are five events to add to your calendar.

1. Everything But Coffee Pop-Up Week

Date: September 28 – October 1, 2026
Location: Purple Mall, Lekki, Lagos

If coffee, tea and trying new drinks are your idea of a good time, this one is for you. Everything But Coffee is hosting a four-day pop-up with coffee, tea, milkshakes, tastings and demonstrations. There will also be games and activities for people who want to hang around rather than just grab a drink and leave. Each day has a different theme, so there should be something new to check out throughout the week.

2. Órúpézá Festival

Date: October 1, 2026
Location: Freedom Park, Lagos Island, Lagos

Independence Day is a good excuse to get out of the house, and Órúpézá Festival gives you another reason to do so. The festival brings together African culture and contemporary creativity, with entertainment and cultural experiences planned for the day. If you want to spend October 1 doing something other than staying home or attending the usual parties, Freedom Park is worth considering.

3. Design Week Lagos

Date: October 18–25, 2026
Location: Multiple venues across Lagos

Design Week Lagos is back, and it is not limited to one venue. The week-long event will feature exhibitions, installations, workshops, talks, open studios and other activities centred on design and creativity. The National Theatre in Iganmu will serve as the main hub, while other activities will take place at different locations around Lagos. Fashion lovers, creatives and anyone who enjoys good design will probably find something worth seeing.

4. Lagos Fringe

Date: November 3–8, 2026
Location: Multiple venues across Lagos

Lagos Fringe is returning in November with six days dedicated to independent and emerging creatives. The festival covers different forms of art, including theatre, performance, visual art and workshops. It is also a chance to see the work of creatives who may not always get space on the bigger entertainment stages. If you are tired of doing the same things every weekend, this could be a good reason to try something different.

5. Entertainment Week Africa

Date: November 17–22, 2026
Location: Multiple venues across Lagos

Entertainment Week Africa brings together some of the biggest parts of the creative industry in one week. The programme will cover music, film and television, fashion, beauty, art, animation, technology and live entertainment. There will also be showcases, markets, runway events, premieres and nightlife activities. 

You do not have to attend everything. Pick the events that interest you and make a day or evening of it.

Lagos will be busy over the next few months, so if you have been looking for an excuse to step out, these events are a good place to start.
