The founder and president of Abel Damina Ministries International (ADMI), Dr Abel Damina, has said that Adam and Eve did not consume anything in the Garden of Eden, contradicting the age-long belief that the duo ate apple in man’s biblical first home.

He made this claim in a now-trending video during a sermon on morality and salvation.

Damina stated, “Somebody said, Adam and Eve fell in eating, they ate that’s how they fell, so we too, Jesus said we should eat so that we can overcome. Are you also without understanding? Adam and Eve ate and fell, so Jesus now says, ‘Eat my body to live.’ Wonderful. It sounds logically good, but that’s not the Bible, because Adam and Eve ate nothing. Adam and Eve didn’t eat anything.”

Challenging the commonly held belief, he questioned, “Were you there? You were not there. They ate nothing.”

Expounding further, Damina explained that Jesus, as the Word of God, was present in the Garden of Eden, offering the ultimate understanding of what occurred.

Quoting Mark 7:18, he argued that sin is not caused by eating or drinking but is a matter of faith and salvation.

He added, “Do you not know that if Adam and Eve ate something, they would not be sinners? It is not what people eat that makes them sinners. I’ve told you, alcohol is not a sin. I’ve told you cigar is not a sin. If you like, put it on the newspaper headline. I said it, alcohol is not a sin. Cigar is not a sin.”

However, Damina cautioned against smoking or drinking, stressing the importance of personal responsibility and common sense.

“Am I saying you should smoke? You should have sense from your father’s house to know that cigar will cut short your life. Am I saying you should drink alcohol? You should have sense to know that if you drink alcohol, you will lie down inside the gutter, and your shirt and trousers will disappear,” he said.

Reiterating his role as a preacher of salvation and not morality, Damina added, “I’m not a moral instructor. I’m a man of God. Your father and mother are moral instructors. You didn’t come for me to teach you morality. You came for me to teach you salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. If I’m teaching, shout, ‘I hear you.’”
