Bob Dylan is back and the fans are ecstatic as the singer has dropped his first original music in eight years.
The song, a 17-minute ballad “Murder Most Foul” is about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Dylan on the song retells the shooting of the US president while describing the evolution of 1960s counterculture.
According to Dylan, “Murder Most Foul” was ‘recorded a while back’ and is a gift to fans for their support and loyalty over the years.

He took to his website to post a portrait of Kennedy ho was assassinated in 1963 while riding in a motorcade through Dallas. Dylan wrote:
“This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting. Stay safe, stay observant, and may God be with you.”
He paints an epic portrait of an America in decline ever since the death of Kennedy.
The song is packed with artist name-drops and pop culture references, including to The Beatles, Charlie Parker, the Eagles, Stevie Nicks and the Woodstock festival.
Dylan made a subtle reference to the coronavirus crisis as he launched the song on Twitter.
“Greetings to my fans and followers with gratitude for all your support and loyalty across the years,” he said.
“This is an unreleased song we recorded a while back that you might find interesting. Stay safe, stay observant and may God be with you.”
“Murder Most Foul” is the folk singer’s first original song since his 2012 album ” Tempest,” though he has released a number of cover albums in the interim. Dylan’s recent albums have featured cover versions of American pop standards. The most recent was triple album Triplicate in 2017.
“Murder Most Foul” is also the first song Dylan has penned and released since he reluctantly accepted the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, the first songwriter awarded the honor.
