In an interview with the BBC, Ogulu said that she is proud of everything Burna Boy has accomplished, but she believes that he has the potential to achieve even more.
“I admire the diligence, the hard work but he’s still a work in progress,” she said.
“There are many more milestones to attain. We need to not just step down and look at what we’ve done, but keep doing more.”
Bose Ogulu, popularly referred to as ‘Mama Burna’ has been credited with playing a key role in Burna Boy’s career, said that she is always pushing her son to be the best that he can be.
Burna Boy’s mother left her language school to manage him, having seen his potential from a young age. She wasn’t prepared for him to drop out of university, but ultimately supported his decision.
Burna Boy has been one of the most successful African artists in recent years. He has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album for his 2020 album, Twice as Tall. He has also headlined sold-out shows at major venues around the world.
