Life in Nigeria today can test even the strongest minds. From rising food prices to transportation costs, unpaid bills, school fees and the uncertainty of tomorrow, many people wake up every day carrying heavy burdens on their shoulders. In such an environment, worry has quietly become a daily companion for countless families struggling to survive.

It is normal for people to worry occasionally. Every human being experiences moments of fear, anxiety or doubt. A parent may worry about feeding the family, a graduate may worry about getting a job, while workers struggle with low salaries and increasing responsibilities. These concerns are part of life and often unavoidable. However, worry becomes dangerous when it grows beyond control and begins to dominate the mind every single day.

Many people now spend hours thinking about worst-case scenarios and problems they cannot immediately solve. Unfortunately, constant worrying does not improve any situation. Instead, it drains strength, weakens confidence and affects both physical and mental health. Excessive anxiety can make people tired, hopeless and emotionally unstable, reducing their ability to think clearly or make good decisions.

In difficult moments, it is important to take deliberate steps to calm the mind. Simple activities such as taking a walk, exercising or practicing deep breathing can help reduce stress and improve emotional balance. Engaging in productive tasks or hobbies also shifts attention away from fear and keeps the mind active in a healthy way.

Writing down worries and identifying possible solutions can also help people feel more in control. Even taking a small positive action toward solving a problem can reduce anxiety significantly.

Most importantly, people must intentionally focus on the positive aspects of life, no matter how little they may seem. Kindness, gratitude and hopeful thinking have a way of restoring strength. In the midst of hardship, choosing positivity may not remove every problem, but it can provide the courage needed to keep moving forward.
