Davido: “I Already Need 20 Grammys”
Nigerian singer Davido has expressed his excitement over his first ever Grammy nominations. He received three nods for his album ‘Timeless’ and two of its songs, ‘Feel’ and ‘Unavailable’.
Davido said in an interview, “Shout-out to the Recording Academy. This is my first nomination ever. So it’s crazy to get three at once. We worked really hard on this album. I was just really patient. So, if you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, I already need 20 Grammys. But, like I said, God’s timing is the best. We will see what happens.”
The 66th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. Davido’s album ‘Timeless’ is competing in the Best Global Music Album category, while ‘Feel’ and ‘Unavailable’ are vying for the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, respectively.
Davido is one of the most successful and influential artists in Africa, with over 20 million followers on Instagram and hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify and YouTube. He is known for his fusion of Afrobeats, pop, R&B, and hip-hop, and has collaborated with international stars like Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj.
