At GTCO fashion weekend 2024 runway, simple style’s new classy

The constant evolution of fashion in all its forms never fails to come to life during each of GTCO Fashion Weekend’s runways from inception, but this year’s edition breathed elegance and class into simple everyday wears for men and women of all ages, as featured designers turned style ordinariness to extraordinariness.

Speaking while in awe during the just concluded 2024 GTCO Fashion Weekend day-one runway showcase, which she personally tagged “Fashion is life, and simplicity is all the class there is in fashion”, Sophia Olorungbemi told The Guardian that she has never missed any edition of GTCO Fashion Weekend, despite having to travel from Ogun State where she lives to Lagos for the two day event year in and out.

She said: “This 2024 edition redefined my idea of elegance, as everything I would have called ordinary was lifted. Even the simplest of clothing were adorned with shoes, purses, jewelries and other accessories that elevated them to class.

Did you see how the simple adire and other fabrics made in shirts and trousers were turned into corporate wears for men? In my opinion, from the expressions of excitement, to the applause of everyone in the runway hall with lilted faces and smiles, this GTCO Fashion Weekend seventh edition indeed moves fashion forward to a whole new level.”

She continued: “This is why it is always a delight to attend the GTCO Fashion Weekend especially the runway shows, I ensure never to miss it, so you find me standing at the entrance to the runways hall from 3pm, for an event that commences 7pm.”

The featured designers for the 2024 GTCO Fashion Weekend runway shows include: Onalaja, Orire, Gert Johan Coetzee, Hue by Idera, Romeo Hunte, Sukeina, Tolu Coker, Ituen Bassey, Eric Raisina, Selly Raby Kane, Laquan Smith and Xu Zhi.
