Legendary Hollywood actor John Amos has reportedly died at the age of 84.

According to the announcement made by his son, Kelly Christopher Amos, the Emmy-nominated actor died of natural causes in Los Angeles.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned. He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over.

“Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor.”

Amos before his demise was recognized for his role in Good Times. He was also recognized for his portrayal of Gordy the Weatherman on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and his portrayal of older Kunta Kinte on “Roots,” which earned him an Emmy nomination at the 29th Emmy Awards.

Most prominently, he showcased his talent as Cleo McDowell in both ‘Coming to America’ films, alongside Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones.
