The organisers of the 2025 Septimius Awards have announced nominees for this year’s edition, with several Nigerian actors and filmmakers making the cut.
The awards ceremony, scheduled to hold on September 3 and 4 in Amsterdam, will celebrate outstanding works across acting, directing and production from different continents.
In the list, Nigerian stars secured nominations in major categories such as Best African Actor, Best African Actress and Best African Producer.
Stan Nze received his first Septimius Awards nomination in the Best African Actor category for a role critics hailed as intense and emotional.
Also on the list is Olarotimi Fakunle for his performance in “Recall”, a film produced by veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who is himself nominated for Best African Producer.
South Africa’s Lemogang Tsipa, previously nominated in 2023 for Shaka Ilembe, also returned to the category alongside Ayden Croy (South Africa), Idir Benaibouche (Algeria), Oumar Daiw (Senegal), Adam A. Zango (Nigeria) and Slim Baccar (Tunisia).
In the Best African Actress category, Sharon Ooja clinched a nomination for her role in “Recall”, joining fellow Nigerian actress Osas Ighodaro, who was recognised for her part in another critically acclaimed production.
