Despite this, Hemsworth threw himself into his role as Tyler Rake in the Extraction sequel, performing his own stunts, including throwing punches, shooting down a helicopter, and being set on fire.

In the new film, Tyler Rake returns as an Australian black ops mercenary on a deadly mission to rescue the family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from prison.

Hemsworth is joined by Golshifteh Farahani, who reprises her role from the first film, as well as Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili. Extraction, based on the graphic novel Cuidad by Ande Parks, became the most-watched original film in Netflix’s history, reaching 99 million households in its first four weeks of release.

Hemsworth currently has four projects in the works, including an upcoming Avengers sequel in which he will return as Thor, and an untitled biopic about wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.

However, according to a source, Hemsworth plans to take on fewer roles due to his increased risk of Alzheimer’s. “He doesn’t plan to take on many roles because of [learning about his high risk for] Alzheimer’s,” an insider told Page Six.

Hemsworth discovered his predisposition to Alzheimer’s while filming an episode about death for his Disney+ docuseries Limitless. Bloodwork for the program revealed that he is “between eight and 10 times” more likely to develop the disease than the general population.

As a result, Hemsworth has adopted a healthier lifestyle to reduce his risk.

He told Vanity Fair, “For me, the positive of it was like: ‘Right, if I didn’t know this information, I wouldn’t have made the changes I made.’

“I just wasn’t aware of any of it, so now I feel thankful that I have in my arsenal the sort of tools to best prepare myself and prevent things happening in that way.” Hemsworth’s biggest fear is forgetting his wife Elsa Pataky and their children due to Alzheimer’s.”
