Osofisan, others to discuss opportunities in creative economy

Playwright, essayist, poet and Chairman ANA Board of Trustees, Prof. Femi Osofisan; Professor of General Stylistics and Literary criticism at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Joe Ushie and Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, Peter Ryan, are among distinguished personalities expected to grace the 43rd convention of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).
According to ANA President and chief host, Usman Akanbi, Osofisan is chairman of the event. Ushie is expected to deliver the keynote address and Ryan is the lead speaker.
With the theme, The Nigerian Writer and the Creative Economy, the event is scheduled to hold from October 31 to November 3, 2024. The venue is Mamman Vatsa Writers Village, Mpape, Abuja.
Akanbi disclosed there would be festival of life with readings, spoken words, songs and performances on the first day.
He added the second day would feature keynote addresses, commissioning of the Ken Saro- Wiwa International Writers Residency, writing and publishing workshops, panel discussions and convention drama. He disclosed the title of the panel discussion is: “Follow your art and follow the money: Understanding writing as business”
To Akanbi, the yearly general meeting will hold on the last day. He said there would also be panel discussions and awards /dinner night. The title of the panel discussion is: “Whither the writer’s well-being in a dysfunctional space?”
