Nollywood actor, Godwin Nnadiekwe, has landed in the hospital with internal bleeding after receiving a kick from colleague, Zubby Michael, during a movie shoot.

The incident occurred earlier in the week but went viral on Sunday after a video surfaced online showing Zubby kicking Godwin in the chest, causing him to fall on set.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Nnadiekwe said the kick was not in the script and that the director never approved it.

“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director,” he wrote.
“It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

Nnadiekwe said he was not trying to attack Zubby Michael but wanted to raise awareness about poor safety practices on Nollywood sets.

“What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?” he asked. “Please let us all look out for each other and ensure our sets are always safe spaces.”

He also lamented the lack of basic emergency structures on set.

“No insurance, no first aid… that’s the reality most of us face,” he added.

His management confirmed his hospitalisation in a follow-up statement and video clips and revealed that he is currently being treated for internal bleeding.

“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening (Saturday). He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael,” the statement read.

As of the time of filing this report, Zubby Michael has yet to comment on the matter.
