Regina Hall is definitely pushing the envelope in Hollywood. The American actress On Thursday became the first black woman to win the Best Actress Award at the New York Film Critics Circle’s, hence, breaking the 83-year history of the association.

The actress was a recipient of the award for her role in the Magnolia Pictures comedy, Support The Girls, released earlier this year.

Also, Regina King won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Sharon Rivers in Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk.

As the buzz grows around If Beale Street Could Talk and Hall’s award, the two ladies could see themselves receiving more awards.
