“My brother is the one that introduced me to rap because he used to listen to a lot of rap music… That’s how I got the influences.

“Hip hop is my thing, I used to pretend to be a rapper, I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger.”
Tems shared on the podcast mentioning Mrs. Officer, ‘Mr. Carter, Comfortable, and Hustle Music as some of her favourite Lil Wayne records.

“I want to meet him so bad, I know very soon I am going to meet him, she added
She also admitted to having a “rap voice” but joked about how hesitant she feels sharing it: “It is a little cringy,” she laughed.

Although she hasn’t met Lil Wayne yet, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer hopes the opportunity will come soon.
Her love for hip-hop is clearly stamped on her debut album Born In The Wild, where she delved into rap with the track T Unit and collaborated with Grammy-winning rapper J Cole on Free Fall.
