Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisioluwa Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has shared that one of the biggest adjustments she has had to make since her rise to fame is getting used to wearing makeup and being constantly glamorised.
In a recent interview with Goldmyne TV, the reality star admitted that while she appreciates the attention that comes with her new status, maintaining the image of a public figure isn’t always easy for her.
“The one thing I’m still struggling with in this new life is makeup,” she said. “It’s not my thing. I hate having stuff on my face. I look good naturally, with or without makeup.”
Imisi, who won the hearts of fans during the show for her simple and down-to-earth personality, said she often feels pressured to look a certain way now that she’s constantly in the public eye.
Her confession has sparked reactions online, with fans debating whether celebrities should feel obligated to maintain a certain appearance or stay true to their natural selves.
Instagram user @cacregistration_by_peaynext commented, “You’ll adjust with time,” suggesting that Imisi’s discomfort might fade as she settles into her new lifestyle.
Another user, @misschidel, encouraged her to embrace confidence instead of conforming to expectations. “You can still go out without makeup if your confidence level is at 100,” she wrote.
On the other hand, @thesandypreneur praised Imisi for her authenticity and advised her not to lose it. “What happened to being authentic? You built your fanbase without it. No need to do what doesn’t suit you. Dress well, look clean, smell nice and that’s all,” she commented.
However, not everyone was sympathetic. Some fans felt that Imisi and other reality stars are putting unnecessary pressure on themselves by trying to keep up with the glamour that comes with fame.
Instagram user @quin_genia wrote, “Y’all will just be putting yourselves under unnecessary pressure. Nobody is forcing y’all into the lifestyle. I saw a post where another one complained that the lifestyle was expensive, that you have to pay huge amounts for glam every time you go out. If you can’t keep up, just rest.”
Similarly, @cissyssempa6 questioned the sudden change, saying, “She was not wearing it in the house; why does she wear it now?” while @kenebabyyyy added, “But who forced her now? She can still go barefaced if she wants; she is beautiful.”
