Lagos Fashion Week 2024: What’s happening and how to join

Lagos Fashion Week is back, and the 2024 edition is already making waves.

The main event, running from October 23rd to 27th, kicked off in style after a pre-launch at Boho Lounge on October 10th.

The exclusive gathering brought together fashion enthusiasts, designers, and top players in the industry, setting the mood for what promises to be an exciting week of fashion.

A major highlight of this year’s Lagos Fashion Week is the Green Access program. The initiative, spearheaded by Lagos Fashion Week and Style House Files, aims to support emerging designers, especially those focused on sustainability.

The creative minds are not just producing stunning designs but are pushing boundaries by using eco-friendly materials and practices.

Among the 2024 Green Access finalists are rising stars like Samiat Salami, Bella Adeleke, and Rosette Ale. Salami, the founder of Oya Abeo, started her career designing home goods. Today, her vibrant, playful designs reflect the lively spirit of Lagos, and she’s making a name for herself in the fashion scene.

Bella Adeleke’s brand, Garbe, began as a streetwear line but evolved into a sustainable fashion label during the pandemic. Now, her stylish and functional pieces, crafted from repurposed materials, echo the pulse of Lagos.

Meanwhile, Rosette Ale, founder of Revival London, focuses on waste reduction and empowering women. Her designs merge West African influences with ’90s fashion, showcasing her craftsmanship and resourcefulness.

The designers are set to light up the Lagos Fashion Week runway, each presenting three signature pieces that capture their unique journeys. It’s their moment to shine, and their collections will no doubt make a statement.
