Afrobeat musician and activist Seun Kuti has questioned fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid’s silence, Wizkid, amidst an ongoing feud.

The youngest son of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Seun, made the remarks during an Instagram Live video, where he addressed members of Wizkid’s fan base, popularly known as Wizkid FC, suggesting that the “Essence” crooner remains indifferent to the verbal attacks directed at his supporters.

He said, “I’m attacking Wizkid fans and yet Wizkid has done nothing to me. Doesn’t that mean he no send una? If I’m attacking all his fans, say e no go better for everybody wey dey WizKid FC, and WizKid has said nothing, and he has done nothing to me, that means he doesn’t send you. Him no send una; no be say na me him no send, na una him no send.”

In the video, Seun argued that if a leader remains silent while their supporters are being publicly criticized or “cursed out,” it suggests a lack of regard for those supporters.

He explained, “If you do something to anybody I care about, or anything I care about, I will come for you full force. I will fuck you up; it is a promise, I guarantee. No be say him fit? I guarantee if you do anything, or you harm like the way una do video for my papa, I am here for all of you immediately.

“I am yabbing, insulting, cursing out all una ancestors as WizKid fans. WizKid has said nothing or done nothing to protect you; what does that mean?” he noted.

I saw DJ Tunez; e dey on live stream say, “Fela is our GOAT. Fela is Fela, he’s our GOAT. Wiz is the new Michael Jackson.” They don’t go Michael Jackson; the man is himself.

Kuti lamented what he described as lack of “sense” among the fan base, stating that the “senselessness has gone wide; it has spread far and wide.

“They need to pursue all of you from Wizkid’s back. Wiz is Wiz; Wiz is not the new anything. The world has never seen anything like Wiz. See, let me tell you people something, if una get sense obviously the senselessness has gone wide; it has spread far and wide.” he stated.

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, is one of Nigeria’s most successful new-generation Afrobeat artistes, with global recognition, international collaborations and major awards, including a Grammy. He commands a massive following at home and abroad.

Despite the backlash, Seun insisted that his criticism was not directed at Wizkid personally, but at a culture that equates noise with relevance.
