Nigerian singer, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has addressed rumours of a feud with Davido and clarified speculations about her relationship with Wizkid.
She made the remarks in an interview shared on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, by US radio show The Breakfast Club, where she spoke about her misunderstanding with Davido in December 2023 and her experience in what she described as an “embarrassing” secret relationship.
According to the singer, the tension with Davido started after she posted an Instagram story with Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child.
“Our kids are friends, and they’ve gone to the same school since they were one. They’re 10 now. I’ve known David before that, but I naturally grew a relationship with the mother of their kid. And I didn’t really know there were issues,” she said.
She explained that an ordinary greeting at an event was misinterpreted by the “Unavailable” crooner.
“I guess I was at an event and she was too. Naturally, we greeted each other. He saw that, and he took it the wrong way. I think it was a misunderstanding. He felt like I knew what was happening and was on her side—but that’s not the case. This is just a woman I know, who is the mother of my son’s friend.”
Savage alleged that Davido later sent her messages she considered threatening, which made her file a police petition after attempts to reach his family members failed.
“I reached out to members of his family before I did anything. I was hearing threats and asked if we could resolve it, but none of them came back to me. I just wanted to ensure safety for everyone involved, and that’s why I filed a petition. It wasn’t about revenge.”
On whether she feared for her life, Savage replied, “I don’t think he was ever going to carry it out. David is such a joyful person, and I know he didn’t mean it the way it sounded… I always put our kids first, and that’s why I feel I have to be respectful to the mother of a child. It’s all about love.”
She insisted that the matter was a misunderstanding and not a deep conflict.
“I want everyone to know there’s no bad blood. I haven’t spoken to him, but I love him, and I always put our kids first. That’s what matters.”
The “Somebody’s Son” singer also reacted to long-running rumours linking her to Wizkid.
“Shout out to Wizkid. I love Wizkid. I respect Wizkid. It’s not about him,” she said.
She explained that her earlier reference to a secret romance with a public figure was not about Wizkid but another person whose relationship with her affected her emotionally.
“At the time, I didn’t see how bad it was. It chipped away at my confidence, and it comes through in my music. I hadn’t even been able to perform that song because of how it made me feel. It’s embarrassing to think I let that happen.”
Savage added that the relationship, though difficult, shaped her music and gave more meaning to her songs.
“I haven’t been able to perform … It was tough,” she admitted, noting that the experience influenced her message of love, heartbreak and faith.
