Visual artist and photographer, Olamide Bakare, has won Award of Excellence in Photography at the 2025 Eko Heritage Award.
The award is a testament to Olamide’s dedication to the art of photography and his contributions to the creative industry. He was nominated alongside Olalekan Adetunji, Kester K. Onyemaechi, Ibukun Oparinu, and Tosin Bakre.
With over a decade of experience in producing evocative and narrative-rich imagery, Olamide has established himself as a multidisciplinary visual artist, photographer, and creative professional. His work spans various genres, including fine art, portraiture, fashion, landscapes, and architecture, showcasing his technical precision and deep sensitivity to storytelling and composition.
Olamide’s artistic journey began as a professional dancer and creative director, where he spent 12 years mastering movement, rhythm, and performance. These skills have significantly informed his distinctive photographic style, setting him apart in the industry.
Beyond his artistic practice, Olamide is committed to arts education, having trained over 2,000 photographers through workshops, mentorship programmes, and speaking engagements at Nigeria’s largest photography conference. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Olamide’s collaborations extend to private and corporate clients, as well as civic organisations like EiE Nigeria. His passion for fostering creative engagement and cultural dialogue drives him to explore the transformative power of visual storytelling, inspiring, connecting, and provoking thought.
