Popular media personality and Big Brother Naija host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, once again proved why he is the undisputed style king of Nigerian television after stepping out in a striking agbada ensemble inspired by former Head of State, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The fashion moment took place during Sunday’s live eviction show for BBNaija Season 10, where Ebuka appeared on stage in an outfit that instantly got viewers and social media buzzing.

The agbada, rich in detail and heavy with symbolism, was a direct nod to a historic 1977 photograph of Obasanjo’s visit to the White House, where he met with then-US President Jimmy Carter. That iconic image, which has often been referenced in diplomatic and pop culture circles, was reimagined on the BBNaija stage through fabric and flair.

Sharing photos of the look on his X handle (formerly Twitter), Ebuka wrote, “Recreated by @deco_d29, inspired by the viral photo of Nigeria’s longest serving head of state, President Olusegun Obasanjo at the White House with former US President, Jimmy Carter in 1977.”

Designed by @deco_d29, the agbada featured elaborate embroidery, voluminous sleeves, and traditional patterns that mirrored the statesmanlike aura of Obasanjo’s original outfit. The look was completed with a regal cap and a walking staff, adding further gravitas to the appearance.

In a creative twist, Ebuka was also photographed alongside a mysterious figure dressed in ninja-black, possibly representing Jimmy Carter, adding an artistic layer to the homage.

As expected, social media erupted. Within minutes, fans flooded X and Instagram with praise, calling Ebuka’s look “presidential,” “timeless,” and “a bold statement in honour of Nigerian heritage.”
