You can’t look past the name, it is what gets many curious. It is said that the creator of the drink, bartender Douglas Ankrah, thought pornstar martini was what a porn star would order; other stories hold that he was inspired by the smell of a stripper’s perfume.

Whatever the case might be, this crowd-pleasing combination of vanilla and passion fruit accompanied by a shot of sparkling wine has been adopted by bars from all over the world since it was created at London’s Townhouse bar in the early 2000s.

Ingredients
1½ ounces vanilla-flavoured vodka
½ ounce passion fruit liqueur
1 ounce passion fruit puree
½ ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
½ ounce vanilla simple syrup
2 ounces sparkling wine, chilled
Garnish: 1/2 passion fruit

Steps
Add all ingredients except sparkling wine into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a passion fruit half.
Serve with a sparkling wine sidecar (on the side).
