Watch: I Am Sorry – Sydney Talker Apologises For Coronavirus Controversy
Following the backlash that has trailed popular Nigerian Instagram comedian Sydney Talker for allegedly pranking the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), he has gone on Instagram Live to apologise.
We reported that Sydney took to Twitter to allege that the NCDC had refused to test him despite showing symptoms for coronavirus.
This led to a trail of criticism by Nigerians and Sydney was eventually tested and his result came back negative.
The comedian was called out before he eventually shared the test result and he was slammed with the hashtag #SydneyNaFraud as many believe he made a mockery of the crisis.
Sydney in his Instagram Live video has reiterated his earlier stance that he did not prank the NCDC and wasn’t clout chasing.
Nonetheless, he said he is sorry for the entire brouhaha because he was simply trying to be “a concerned citizen” and trying to make it easy for the average Nigerian to get tested for the novel coronavirus.
He goes on to state that he still does not know what is wrong with him but he feels better but at the time his video was made, he felt like he was going to die.
According to him, clout chasing is something he can do easily but this critical period of a pandemic is not when he would do that.
He went on to urge everyone to stay safe as coronavirus is not something anyone would want to get infected with.

Asides the video, he also posted on Twitter writing:
“I’m sorry to those who I’ve offended with my health issues and specially to Twitter NG. I tried to explain myself on my Instagram Live. Please you can check it out. Thank you.”
