Veteran Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has said Burna Boy is his personal number one artiste in the country at the moment.

The ‘African Queen’ crooner made the statement during an interview on Urban Radio, Enugu, on last week, while speaking about the new wave of Nigerian music and the artistes he considers outstanding.

“On a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one,” 2Baba said, stressing that his choice was based on respect for Burna Boy’s consistency and influence.

He explained that among the younger generation of performers, Burna Boy stands out as a leader.

“Right now, absolutely, Burna Boy is my number one. I say that because among the people I’m referring to, he is the senior,” he added.

The veteran, however, acknowledged that Nigeria is blessed with a long list of remarkable acts who continue to shape the global music scene.

“We have Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Omah Lay, Rema, Adekunle Gold, Olamide… the list just goes on. We have so many superstars from one country. That’s my dilemma,” he said.

Reflecting on the industry, 2Baba noted that artistes follow different paths to success. While some depend heavily on hard work, others lean on their unique style, and many thrive by making music that appeals to the mainstream.

According to him, all these approaches have produced successful careers and kept Nigerian music at the top globally.
